This installation responded to Chicago's architecture and shifting natural light while reacting against typical models for hanging a thesis show. The construction materials of the installation formed a bond with the architecture, a sense of belonging and yet pushing and challenging the space. Shifting sunlight changed the lines of the structure and its resulting shadows, fusing it into an atmospheric 3D line drawing. The play of light, shadows, materials, structure, and the temporal gesture of the changing environment was poetic while the gallery’s standard lighting supported the piece in the evening.
